CurveFit.xlsx

(4/4)

Description

Purpose
To determine which order polynomial best fits the data and to calculate the coefficients for that polynomial

Method
For a linear LSQM fit we can use:

[Y] = [A] x {X}

The values for [Y] and {X} is presented in the range Calc!P5:AB16.
Below this range in column P the values of [A] is calculated for every order from 1 to 11.
Columns C to M are then filled with data generated from these coefficients
In Rows 2 and 3 the correlations and errors are calculated for each order.
A conditinal format is used to highlight the applicable result.

Test
The TestData sheet at the end is used to generate data to paste (Values only) into the raw data column.

The results will be immediately highlighted.

The file opened with no problems in Excel 2010 but Excel 2003 failed to open it. Now I can open it I see that it is very well executed and laid out. I have happily awarded you a 6 month XLC Pro subscription. Thanks for your contribution to the site and I hope this is only the start of the dfh collection!
