Description
A single worksheet with two tables, the material thickness and strength can be changed to produce printed look up tables for a variety of materials.
The calcuations are to Australian coldformed steel structures code AS4600. It covers bolt bearing, and tear out on the thin sheets, with and without washers.
In general there is little benefit to using PC 8.8 bolts in thin sheet metal in shear, since cannot develop the full capacity of the bolts before the sheet starts to fail. So would typically adopt PC 4.6 bolts. Similar problems to bolting timber structures.
