Sudoku
Sudoku is a logic-based number-placement puzzle that originated in Switzerland and gained popularity in Japan in the 1980s. The objective of the game is to fill a 9x9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3x3 subgrids (also called 'boxes' or 'regions') contain all of the digits from 1 to 9. The grid is partially filled with some numbers, providing the player with clues to complete the puzzle.
The name 'Sudoku' is an abbreviation of a Japanese phrase 'S?ji wa dokushin ni kagiru,' which roughly translates to 'the numbers must be single' or 'the numbers must occur only once.'
Sudoku puzzles come in various levels of difficulty, from easy to extremely challenging. The difficulty of the puzzle is determined by the number and arrangement of the given numbers in the grid. Solving a Sudoku puzzle requires logical thinking and patience, as players must deduce the correct placement of numbers based on the given clues.
Sudoku has become a popular pastime worldwide, appearing in newspapers, magazines, mobile apps, and online platforms. It is known for its ability to provide a satisfying mental challenge while helping improve problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and concentration.
