Storm Water Drain Pipe Calculation

(0/0)

Description

Storm Water Drain Pipe Calculation as per UN 9284-01 Part 2.

  1. Find out how hard it rains: Check how intense the rain can get in your area.

  2. See how different surfaces handle rain: Some surfaces like roofs or paved areas let water run off easily, while grassy areas might absorb more. Figure out how much water each type of surface lets through.

  3. Measure the area where water collects: Calculate the total area that drains into your system, and how much of that area is covered by each type of surface.

  4. Work out how much water needs draining:

    • If there's any water from processes, find out how much is coming out.
    • Calculate how much rainwater you'll have to deal with based on the intensity of rainfall and how much runoff each surface produces.
    • Add up the process water and rainwater to get the total amount you need to drain.
  5. Pick the right size pipe: Once you know how much water you're dealing with, choose a pipe that can handle it all. Consider things like the material and size of the pipe.

  6. Plan and install your drainage system: Decide where your pipes and drains will go, making sure they're positioned to deal with the water efficiently. Make sure you follow any guidelines or rules for installation.

  7. Think about safety and the environment: Make sure your drainage system won't cause floods or pollution. You might need to include features like filters or traps to keep things clean and safe.
